Abkhazia, Half Dead State

Abkhazia, a republic de facto independence, an area of 8600 km ², situated in the Caucasus. Abkhazia claims Georgia as sovereign territory. The sovereignty of this republic is not internationally recognized, except for Russia who admitted on August 26, 2008 in conjunction with the recognition of the sovereignty of South Ossetia. Abkhazia is located on the east coast of the Black Sea, bordering the Russian Federation in the north. With Georgia, borders on Zemo Svaneti region Samegrelo-east.

Government of Georgia and most of the countries of the world considers Abkhazia de jure part of Georgia's territory. In the official division of Georgia, Abkhazia was an autonomous republic, where the government sits in exile in Tbilisi. On August 28, 2008, Georgian parliament adopted a resolution stating the holder region of Abkhazia is Russia.

Abkhazia's status is a central issue-Georgian conflict Abkhazia.Ketika Soviet Union begins to crumble in the 1980s, ethnic tensions grew between Abkhazian and Georgian independence towards Georgia. This caused the war in Abkhazia in 1992-1993 that resulted in the military defeat of Georgia, the independence of Abkhazia and de facto ethnic cleansing, mass expulsion of Georgia from Abkhazia.
